Brian Ellison is a highly respected trainer who's based in Malton, Yorkshire. Brian moved to Spring Cottage Stables in 2000 with his 25 horses, having previously trained from rented property in his native North East. Now just 17 years later the yard is barely recognizable due to its vast expansion and it is now home to over 100 equine residents. Brian and his team are now a multiple Group/grade winning team including such individuals as – Top Notch Tonto, Marsh Warbler, Smart Talk and last year’s big Grand National hope ‘Definitely Red’. Brian is a top trainer over both codes and currently has some very talented horses in his ranks on both the flat and over the jumps. He’s trained over 200 winning horses over the past 5 years and no doubt he will continue to train winners for us in the near future. The stable itself is a much organised, well oiled machine, with a strict schedule for each horse. They take great care in ensuring that each individual is doing the right amount of work and more importantly the correct type of work for the season’s regime, which Brian has planned and laid out for them. Brian is a very humble character who has built his way up from just a few horses and he’s always willing to answer any questions that our owners may have.
As with all our trainers they will go wherever a suitable race comes up for each individual horse however below is a list of their most visited tracks –
Market Rasen, Sedgefield, Musselburgh, Wetherby, Catterick, Hexham, Haydock, Southwell, Doncaster, Ayr, Cheltenham.
