Game On Bigger Things Ahead
12th January 2017
Last Sunday we made the pleasant trip to Plumpton racecourse with our exciting recruit 'Game On'. He had been entered in a few races recently, but for one reason or another (Including an abandoment) we'd been unable to get him on a racecourse. Eventually a suitable opportunity came up and we were pleasantly surprised looking at the declarations, as for the prize on offer, it looked a reasonable field to be competing against. The race itself was a class 3 Novices Hurdle over 2m4f and was also an EBF qualifier just to add to the excitement. The very experienced Leighton Aspell was booked to ride and 'Game On' was looking in fantastic shape in the parade ring. He jumped very enthusiastically throughout and put in some fine leaps especially towards the latter part of the race, which was very pleasing to see. He's a big strapping chaser in the making and you'd have to say he looks like he'd appreciate the change to the bigger obstacles already. Approaching the last we were 1/2 a length up on the odds on favourite 'Harefield' (A highly regarded recruit from the Alan King stable) who unfortunately made a bad mistake and fell, thankfully both horse/rider were up fine after. However this left us clear up the run in and Leighton kept him up to his work, winning by an impressive 13 lengths with ears pricked as he crossed the finish line.
Post race Leighton couldn't have been more complimentary about him and all of his PRO owners were absolutely delighted with the result. He looks to have a very bright future ahead and we'll now look to step him up into graded company later in the season. After talks with trainer Lucy Wadham we've decided to make his main target the 'Grade 3 EBF final handicap hurdle' this takes place at Sandown on March 10th. The race is worth a very nice £36,000 to the winner so fingers crossed he can really put his best foot forward on the day. He may have a run in between but that is yet to be decided and will be discussed nearer the time.
Shares are somehow still available in this very talented individual, however they are very limitied and you really do not want to miss out on him. He's got lots of scope for improvement and we ultimately think his career will lie over the larger obstacles.
